The UFO Files

This is a nineteen-page analytic paper held in the National Archives of Australia (NAA: A13693, 3092/2/000) examining the scientific and intelligence aspects of the UFO problem, written from an Australian Department of Defense viewpoint and recommending that another government department assume responsibility for UFO investigation. It reconstructs the U.S. handling of UFOs from the 1947 Arnold sighting through Project SIGN, GRUDGE, and BLUE BOOK, the Robertson panel, and the Condon report, and includes a detailed event chronology (Appendix A).

“The body of the report prepared between March 1952 and early 1953, although biased in favour of a natural explanation for UFO's, nevertheless showed mathematically that the evidence favoured an explanation that was scientifically unknown. This section of the 116 page report was not released to the public other than as a copy to be consulted, assuming the reader knew of its existence. (p. 4)”

This is Project Blue Book Special Report No. 14 (subtitled "Analysis of Reports of Unidentified Aerial Objects," Project No. 10073, dated 5 May 1955), the large quantitative study produced for the U.S.

“Thus, the probability that any of the UNKNOWNS considered in this study are "flying saucers" is concluded to be extremely small, since the most complete and reliable reports from the present data, when isolated and studied, conclusively failed to reveal even a rough model, and since the data as a whole failed to reveal any marked patterns or trends. (p. 94)”

This is a CIA Memorandum for Record dated 18 December 1952, by Assistant Director (Scientific Intelligence) H. Marshall Chadwell, reporting on British government activity regarding "Unidentified Flying Objects" via a messenger newly arrived from Britain who had spoken with the scientist R. V.

“During the show, a "perfect flying saucer" was seen by these officials as well as RAF pilots. So many people saw it that some articles appeared in the public press. This is disturbing to Jones because he realizes that the creation of the correction of public opinion is a part of his responsibilities. (p. 1)”

This entry corresponds to a single CIA page catalogued as concerning unknown flying objects observed over Budapest. The released item is an image-only scan that produced essentially no extractable text: the OCR output is effectively blank. This case is therefore documented honestly as a near-empty or heavily redacted single page; no factual content about any Budapest observation can be recovered from it.

This is the CIA History Staff's 1992 internal history "The Central Intelligence Agency and Overhead Reconnaissance: The U-2 and OXCART Programs, 1954-1974," by Gregory W. Pedlow and Donald E. Welzenbach.

“High-altitude testing of the U-2 soon led to an unexpected side effect, a tremendous increase in reports of unidentified flying objects (UFOs). (p. 72)”

This is a two-page CIA Domestic Collection Division Foreign Intelligence Information Report (No. 00-B-321/33474-76, dated 16 November 1976) on Soviet Aeroflot aerospace-medicine practices: crew fatigue management, physical conditioning, drug use, aircraft-noise biology, radiation research, and pilot psychomotor testing. Its inclusion in a UAP release appears to rest on a single tangential detail, not on any unidentified-object report.

“Dr [fnu] Georgiyevich Akoyev, a noted radiation biologist explained cosmic ray particles (phosphenes) which are causing Aeroflot pilots to "see" flashes of light during night flying. (p. 1)”

This is an internal CIA memorandum dated 17 December 1953, from the Chief of the Physics and Electronics Division of the Office of Scientific Intelligence to the Assistant Director, reporting the current status of the Agency's UFO project. It records that CIA had reduced its role to monitoring other agencies (chiefly the USAF) and maintaining files, describes the small ATIC Blue Book staff and its methods, notes that about ten percent of reported sightings remained unsolved, and reports that Blue Book was being transferred to Air Defense Command.

“For about the past year, approximately ten percent of the reported sightings have been tagged as unsolved. (p. 2)”

This is a CIA information report dated 31 July 1950 that transmits, in translation, a German scientist's magazine article on "flying discs." The source article was submitted to a German-language magazine published in Chile and is titled, in the report's rendering, "The Mystery of the Flying Discs, a contribution to its possible explanation." The document is a dissemination of open-source foreign commentary, not a sighting report; the available OCR captures the CIA cover sheet and the article's framing rather than the full argument.

“Attached for your information is a copy, in translation, of [an article] submitted to [a] German-language magazine published in Chile. The article is entitled "The Mystery of the Flying Discs, a contribution to its possible explanation." (p. 1)”

This is a three-page CIA cable, classified SECRET//NOFORN, distributed widely across the U.S. intelligence and defense community (addressees include the White House Situation Room, DNI, DIA, NSA, and many commands), reporting that Zimbabwe was placed on high alert in early July 2008 in connection with an unidentified object hovering over Harare International Airport on 2 July 2008. The object was reportedly observed possibly by both radar and optical means, described as disc-like with a hollow center and rotating underside lights, and "beams" were reportedly observed emanating from it before it ascended out of visual range.

“According to observers [redacted] the object was disc-like in shape with a hollow center, and had a series of rotating lights on the underside of the airframe. After a period under observation from the ground, the rotating lights under the object shifted colors and the object quickly ascended to higher altitudes and out of visual range. (p. 2)”

This CIA intelligence information report, distributed 10 April 1972, summarizes a highly speculative theoretical-physics paper that N. Kardashev (Institute for Space Research, Moscow) and the physicist Andrei D. Sakharov presented at the Conference on the Origins of Life in Yerevan, Armenia, 6 to 8 September 1971.

“The Soviets speculated on what would happen if the mass were charged. They stated that then the mass would be able to bounce. It would collapse but bounce back out. However, the mass will come back into a different part of space time. (p. 1)”

This is a single internal CIA Contact Division memorandum dated 9 January 1958 about Case 17708, recording the Agency's handling of the civilian UFO researcher Dr. Leon Davidson. It documents that CIA told Davidson it could not resolve his inquiry about a "space message" because records on the transmitter had been destroyed, and it candidly discusses the Agency's awkward, evasive posture toward him and its concern that the answer given was "hardly fair" and unlikely to be accepted.

“We cannot resolve his problem concerning the space message and its transmitter because records on the transmitter have been destroyed by the originating agency. (p. 1)”

This file collects the January 1953 Report of the Scientific Panel on Unidentified Flying Objects (the Robertson Panel), the longer Durant memorandum recording the panel's meetings, and the surrounding CIA and Intelligence Advisory Committee correspondence transmitting the findings. It is the foundational policy document of official US UFO skepticism: a credentialed scientific panel, convened by the CIA, that found no threat to national security and recommended an active program to strip UFO reports of their "special status" and reduce public interest through training and "debunking."

“That the evidence presented on Unidentified Flying Objects shows no indication that these phenomena constitute a direct physical threat to national security. (p. 4)”

This is a CIA intelligence information report sourced to a former Soviet citizen, summarizing the Sary Shagan weapons testing range in the Kazakh SSR: its facilities, security fencing, regional headquarters and a warhead checkout unit, the System-75 (SA-2) and System-300/Aldan (ABM-1 GALOSH) warheads, rumored laser research, and, listed among these military topics, "an unidentified aerial phenomenon." The available OCR captures the report's summary page; the UAP detail itself is named but not elaborated in the extracted text.

“Also included is limited information on the following: System-75 [SA-2] and System-300/Aldan (ABM-1 GALOSH) warheads; rumored laser research; and an unidentified aerial phenomenon. (p. 1)”

This CIA information report records a US tourist's account of an object he and three companions watched from a train south of Baku, Azerbaijan SSR, on the evening of 4 October 1955. From a large airfield by the Caspian coast, a searchlight illuminated a triangular object the size of a US jet fighter, which was then "ejected" from a launch site, made several fast spirals, and climbed very steeply to high altitude, after which an MVD officer aboard the train ordered the window blinds drawn.

“A huge searchlight, on the field itself, shone on a triangular object on the ground which I would say was probably not more than two miles distant from the railroad. (p. 1)”

This is a six-page CONFIDENTIAL CIA Information Report (with NOFORN and Controlled Dissem caveats, country line India/Nepal/Bhutan/China, date of information February to March 1968) tabulating bright-object sightings over the Himalayan border region during 19 February to 25 March 1968. The body is a structured table of date, local time, area, direction of flight, and particulars for each event, including lights, blasting and thunder sounds, smoke trails, and one reported recovery of a metallic disc-shaped object and fragments in Nepal. The report header is interleaved in OCR with a separate CIA document-retrieval listing that references Dr.

“A huge metallic disc-shaped object with a [...] base and [...] feet in height was found in a crater at Baltichaur, five miles NE of Pokhara. Portions of a similar object were found at Okjakot and [...] (pp. 4 to 5)”

This CIA report relays a US scientist's account of conversations with Soviet astronomers across several observatories about UFOs and whether the USSR was officially interested in them. The picture it draws is consistent: little or no official Soviet treatment of the subject, frequent reliance on the American skeptic Donald Menzel's book to dismiss it, but a widespread private awareness and curiosity among individual astronomers, several of whom described their own unexplained sightings.

“The general feeling one gets is that no official treatment of the UFO problem has been given in the USSR. Instead people refer to the US work, principally Menzel's book, to demonstrate the absence of real scientific problems. (p. 2)”

This is a one-page CIA Information Report (No. 00-B-93674) summarizing a private letter received in November 1955 by a naturalized U.S. citizen from a niece in Hungary, describing "so-called flying saucers" that reportedly kept people in a nervous state and occupied scientists, with an estimated speed of 12,000 km/h.

“The so-called flying saucers (rockets) [sic] for several weeks kept the people in a nervous state. These very fast speeding flyers kept scientific groups very busy. I am sure you heard already from the press, 12,000 kilometers km per hour was estimated on these flyers." (p. 1)”

This is a three-page CIA Information Report (No. 00-B-93674) that is the companion to CIA-UAP-013: it carries the same report number and summary but additionally reproduces the fuller text of the private Hungarian holiday letter, in which the writer describes "so-called saucers" that for weeks kept "scores of scientists busy" and "amazing flyers" moving at 12,000 kilometers per hour. The added pages are domestic family correspondence (Christmas plans, a circus, family health) with the saucer passage embedded near the end.

“Everyone has been excited by the so-called saucers for the past few weeks. These fast-rushing heavenly phenomena have been and still are keeping scores of scientists busy [...] these amazing flyers moved at a speed of 12,000 kilometers per hour. (p. 3)”

A three-page CIA record released in Release 04. The surviving scan is heavily degraded: its title and 1955 provenance are clear, but the text layer does not support a reliable reconstruction of the underlying sighting. It is indexed as a source-limited historical record rather than treated as evidence for a specific claim.

A four-page CIA analysis record from 1955. Like the companion memorandum, the scan is too degraded for fine-grained extraction. The archive preserves the document and its provenance, while explicitly withholding claims that cannot be read back from the primary source.

Minutes from a classified 16 February 1949 Los Alamos conference on the New Mexico green-fireball reports. Scientists, military officers, FBI personnel, and Atomic Energy Commission staff tested meteor and atmospheric explanations against the record. The minutes preserve the disagreement rather than a resolution: long, nearly horizontal paths, steady luminous output, and missing sound were treated as problems requiring measurement, not proof of an extraordinary origin.

The strongest modern document in Release 04. Pantex ground-surveillance radar detected an object west of the plant, and protective-force personnel pursued it for several miles. Multiple personnel observed it, a CROWS camera tracked it for 3–5 minutes, and radar-tower video was sent to Sandia National Laboratories. The report records a roughly 10–15 mph track, no audible sound, no observed propulsion, changing direction, and conflicting colour descriptions. The cover report is dated 2 September 2015, while the narrative dates initial detection to 1 September at about 0710. It also states that the object remained over open areas, never approached sensitive assets, and was not judged threatening. The occurrence is well documented; its identity remains unresolved in this released file.

“The Pantex Ground Surveillance Radar detection system identified an unknown object flying in a non-threatening manner west of Pantex facilities. (p. 2)”

This 7 page document is, per its catalog description, a transmittal of the 1953 CIA Scientific Advisory Panel report (the Robertson Panel) into War Department channels. The OCR is image-only and extremely thin (approximately 800 characters), recovering mainly classification and handling fragments rather than substantive content. Its value here is provenance: it documents the chain of custody by which the CIA panel material reached the Department of Defense, not new analytic content.

“COSMIC MATERIAL [...] Deliver to OSD Sub-Registry, Classified Records if to be transmitted outside of [the Office of the Secretary] [...] without going through the [...] Office of the Secretary of Defense. (p. 2)”

This document is a 25 page US Army file built around a 1949 evaluation study of the "flying saucer phenomenon," prepared by the Army Intelligence Division (ID) at the request of the Plans and Operations Division (P&O) of the General Staff. The legible portions are routing slips and Memoranda for Record dated March and April 1949 that record the study's purpose and its central finding. The text extraction was sparse for the page count, so this is a partial reading of what survived OCR.

“1. ID had submitted, at P&O[']s request, a study of the flying saucer phenomenon. This study int[im]ated that of all cases investigated there was no foreign nation implication in these flying saucers. (p. 3)”

This 3 page document is a Fifth Naval District cover letter (Norfolk, Virginia, dated 13 December 1948) that quotes in full a Chief of Naval Operations (CNO) confidential letter of 1 November 1948 directing all naval districts to report "Flying Discs" sightings. The directive orders stations to forward any disc or unidentified-aerial-object sighting to the nearest Air Force command and to the District Intelligence Office, and to obtain photographic evidence where possible. It is an administrative tasking, not a sighting account.

“1. The Director of Intelligence, U.S. Air Force has informed the Navy Department that a cycle of reappearance of "Flying Discs" is becoming apparent, and that the beginning of a new interval is imminent. They have requested that any such sightings be reported as quickly as possible, and that these phenomena be investigated. (p. 1)”

This is the first of two volumes of a US Air Force study, "Analysis of Flying Object Incidents in the U.S.," covering numbered Incidents 1 through 100 from the 1947 to 1948 wave. The method is a standardized one page "CHECK-LIST - UNIDENTIFIED FLYING OBJECTS" per incident, recording 26 fixed data fields, followed by a narrative remarks section. It is a primary case catalog, not a policy paper, and it is continued in usaf-analysis-flying-objects-101-172.md.

“Incident occurred just before break of day. Object appeared to [Mrs] Brimberry as a large round ball of fire about 26 to 30 inches in diameter with a "tail" of approximately 20 feet in length. This "tail" seemed to diminish as it approached the ground. It appeared to have suddenly "gone out" just before it reached the earth. [...] Mr Brimberry described the object as being "almost round, maybe a little oval or saucer-shaped and giving off a bright light. It appeared to be spinning. (p. 7229 region; Incident #98)”

This is the second of two volumes of the US Air Force study "Analysis of Flying Object Incidents in the U.S.," covering numbered Incidents 101 through 172. It uses the same method as the first volume: a standardized 26 field "CHECK-LIST - UNIDENTIFIED FLYING OBJECTS" per incident, followed by narrative remarks and, in several cases, attached correspondence and expert assessments. It continues usaf-analysis-flying-objects-1-100.md and shares its format exactly.

“Remarks: Oscar Monnig, of the Texas Observers, [amateur] Astronomy [...] offers "tangible proof that th[e] fireball of February 18 over northern Kansas was just that, inasmuch as meteorites have been recovered from it." There were found, beginning April 2[..], first several small fragments [up] to one of 4 1/2 pounds. Then a disturbed spot in a clover field led to "the digging up of a piece of some 1[0]9 pounds embedded about two feet in the soil." (p. 57-69 region; Incident #101)”

DOW-UAP-D077 is an All-domain Anomaly Resolution Office (AARO) Memorandum for Record dated 05 June 2026, signed by AARO Director Jon T. Kosloski, that summarizes AARO's ongoing analysis of a two-day October 2023 incident near a sensitive national security site in the western United States in which six federal law enforcement special agents reported "orbs launching other orbs" (p. 1).

“Approximately 40 percent of the reported phenomena lack a plausible explanation after first stage analysis and thus remain unresolved. (p. 3)”

“About 20 minutes later to the front, another object that looked similar lit up in the sky over the top of another hillside slightly to the right of front. It appeared to be several miles away. It only lit up for a second or two and then was gone again. While it was lit, it appeared three red lights flew out of and away from it. (pp. 1-2)”

DoW-UAP-D080 is an AARO Memorandum for Record dated 02 June 2026, signed by AARO Director Jon T. Kosloski, presenting the verbatim and most detailed first-person narrative in the cluster, that of Witness 2 (p. 1).

“As the bright orb-like light grew larger, it expelled three or four red lights from it. The red lights accelerated instantly and maneuvered with perfect, smooth coordination into a horizontal formation. (p. 1)”

DoW-UAP-D081 is an AARO Memorandum for Record dated 02 June 2026, signed by AARO Director Jon T. Kosloski, presenting the verbatim first-person narrative of Witness 3 (p. 1).

“When the orb was at approximately 45 degrees (halfway between the horizon and directly overhead), it expelled three smaller red orbs. The expulsion appeared to be mechanical. (p. 1)”

“Later, I observed multiple singular very bright orange lights that appeared to shoot out smaller orange lights as if being hatched from the larger very bright orange light. The hatching occurred multiple times, I lost track after five occurrences. The smaller lights seemed to travel downwards like a falling flare. (p. 1)”

DoW-UAP-D083 is an AARO Memorandum for Record dated 02 June 2026, signed by AARO Director Jon T. Kosloski, presenting the verbatim, time-stamped first-person narrative of Witness 5 (p. 1).

“I am certain I saw two red, smaller orbs release from the larger one going west [...] They were simultaneously released, moving away from the larger orb. The larger orb did not move during this time, and all lights were gone from every orb in about 10 seconds. (p. 2)”

DOW-UAP-D078 is a single-page notional illustration, captioned as "a notional representation of four incidents reportedly involving unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP) in the western United States, as seen from above" (p. 1). It is an orientation graphic, not a survey map: it depicts the relative arrangement of multiple incidents reported by federal law enforcement special agents over several days in October 2023, and its caption states plainly that locations, scale, and positions are notional and not accurate.

“This image is a notional representation of four incidents reportedly involving unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAP) in the western United States, as seen from above. (p. 1)”

A heavily redacted 2020 Range Fouler form. The remaining record describes a small contact moving in a constant direction, with an indiscernible shape and a reflective lower surface. Most mission, position, speed, and sensor details are withheld, so the file supports only a narrow claim: an aircrew submitted an operational report, not a reconstruction of the object's performance or identity.

A redacted Range Fouler report from 2019. The reporting aviator states that a small object below the aircraft travelled in a straight line in the opposite direction at apparently high speed, then left the field of view during an attempted zoom. The reporter's post-flight impression was rectangular, and other experienced personnel were unable to identify it. The released form does not preserve range, altitude, speed, sensor settings, or a resolved assessment.

A largely redacted Atlantic Ocean Range Fouler form from 2020. The visible narrative describes a darker, maroon-coloured object roughly 12–15 feet high that appeared structurally like a large, deformed balloon. The form preserves an observer description, not an identification. Its explicit balloon-like appearance is the most important constraint on interpretation.

“The object itself was a darker, maroonish color, approximately 12–15ft in height. Structurally, it appeared as a large, somewhat deformed balloon. (p. 2)”

An 85-page administrative record of the Air Force response to the 1966 Scientific Advisory Board review of Project Blue Book. It shows officials trying to build a university-led scientific review for selected sightings while openly treating public relations as a core implementation problem. It is evidence of institutional process and communication strategy, not evidence that any individual sighting was extraordinary.

“Arrangements [should] be made for a scientific team to investigate in depth certain selected sightings of UFOs. (p. 9)”

A longer archival version of the early Air Force flying-object analysis, including appendices on report patterns and low-aspect-ratio aircraft. The report argued that some type of object had been observed while preserving conventional domestic explanations such as balloons, rockets, and flying-wing aircraft. It also framed a foreign technology possibility as a national-security hypothesis, not a finding.

“It is possible that the object, or objects, may have been domestically launched devices such as weather balloons, rockets, experimental flying wing aircraft, or celestial phenomena. (summary)”

A compact, readable 1949 version of the early Air Force analysis. It records roughly 210 reports, identifies three recurring description groups, and concludes that a real observation did not by itself identify an object or its origin. The document is valuable because it holds domestic, atmospheric, experimental-aircraft, and foreign-technology possibilities open in the same analytic frame.

“It appears that some object has been seen; however, the identification of that object cannot be readily accomplished on the basis of information reported on each incident. (p. 1)”

A mixed 1954–55 file that includes a 6 July 1955 Newfoundland event involving KC-97 crew observations and ground-radar returns. The reviewing committee could not explain the simultaneous radar and visual reports, but provisionally accepted an electrical phenomenon for the radar and aircrew misinterpretation for the visual account. It classified the incident as UFOB while recommending immediate fighter scrambles for future comparable events. The record is notable for preserving both the unresolved correlation and its cautious, prosaic provisional explanation.

A 220-page Project Blue Book correspondence file containing public inquiries, inter-agency referrals, recovery of a meteorological instrument, and the fiscal-year 1955 status summary. That summary recorded 430 reports: 92 balloons, 96 astronomical, 120 aircraft, 66 other reflections, 35 insufficient-data cases, and 21 unknowns. This is a record of the program's administrative work and classification practice, not a single coherent encounter dossier.

The initial Project Sign progress report, filed in April 1948 and supplemented with tabulations, photographs, and aircraft material. It shows the early Air Force collecting reports, cross-checking advertising-blimp schedules, cataloguing reported shapes and motion, and consulting scientists. The document neither resolves the cases nor treats every report as anomalous: it explicitly considered whether low-aspect-ratio aircraft could reproduce many reported characteristics.

“Schedules of activities of lighted night-flying advertising blimps have been secured and cross-checked at this Headquarters to consider them as a possible source of incident reports. (p. 1)”

This is a redacted FBI form FD-1057 (electronic communication) documenting a 2024 forensic sketch interview, conducted at 26 Federal Plaza, New York, of a witness to the same Cheyenne Mountain object recorded in FBI-UAP-D001. A Special Agent and an Operational Projects Unit (OPU) forensic artist interviewed the witness, described as a former US Army intelligence officer, to produce a forensic recreation of the object; an initial sketch draft is enclosed.

“The object was "potato" shaped with distinct edges and appeared to look painted in a creamy/whitish opalescent color. It was somewhat translucent with a slight shimmer. The object was made up of what can best be described as articulating fish scales or panels that were non-symmetrical, non-overlapping, and irregular shaped. (p. 2)”

This is a redacted FBI form FD-302 (interview report) documenting a Microsoft Teams interview, conducted in 2025 by a Special Agent and a Supervisory Special Agent, of one of five US Army personnel who reported a stationary aerial object over Cheyenne Mountain near Fort Carson, Colorado, in early February 2022. The witness describes a motionless, matte off-white, "bean-shaped" object that all five men observed for roughly three to five minutes before it vanished.

“At that time, [redacted] and the four other soldiers with him all noticed a very strange object that appeared to be hovering just over Cheyanne mountain, in a low point or "saddle" in the mountain. [redacted] described the object as being matte white, or off-white in color and appearing non-metallic. (p. 1)”

This document is an FBI digital rendering of the Colorado Springs UAP, a single-page, image-only item whose OCR text layer is effectively empty. It is an interpretive reconstruction of what witnesses described, not a photograph of the object, and it should be read only as a visualization aid to the witness accounts in FBI-UAP-D001 and FBI-UAP-D002.

This is a 1949 FBI correspondence file built around a handwritten letter from Rev. Charles C. Barnes (signing as a Presbyterian pastor) to Director J.

“Last May one afternoon I saw four beams in the sky passing from the northwest to the southeast and converging in the Cascade mountains. In those four narrow beams small clouds were forming. And where the beams met apparently against the mountains a great explosion effect was to be seen. I would say that they were visible for at least 10 minutes or longer. (p. 2)”

This is the FBI Newark (New Jersey) field office's accumulated unidentified-flying-object file, a 66 page aggregation of typed intra-office memoranda, civilian telephone-complaint records, Air Force correspondence, citizen letters to Director Hoover, and clipped saucer-movement literature spanning roughly 1952 to 1967. It is not a single investigation but a running record of how a busy metropolitan field office logged and routed UFO reports it received from the public, the dominant pattern being that Newark took the report, indexed it, and referred the substance to the Air Force Office of Special Investigations (OSI) rather than investigating the sighting itself.

“Transmitted herewith are copies of a restricted memorandum dated 12 August 1952 ... and seven photographs allegedly of unidentified aerial objects. The Air Technical Intelligence Center has requested that the background of [the] civilian photographer, JOHN H. RILEY, 28, 571 Main Street, Paterson, N.J. and of known witness GEORGE J. STOCK, 221 Brooks Ave., Passaic, N.J., be investigated in an attempt to determine their reliability. (p. 40)”

This redacted FBI form FD-302 (interview report) documents a February 2026 sighting of red orb-like objects, interviewed via Microsoft Teams. This is the newest evidence in Release 03 (the events postdate every other document in the release). Two witnesses describe a roughly one-meter red sphere containing a basketball-sized "white plasma sun," joined by a second identical orb, moving silently in tandem before merging; the witnesses captured video, attached to the interview.

This redacted FBI form FD-302 (interview report) is the companion to FBI-UAP-D009, documenting the same February 2026 Northeastern orb event from the second witness and recording photos taken by agents. This witness describes yellow ball-of-light objects (basketball- and beach-ball-sized) moving laterally behind trees, reports no health effects, and recounts a separate 1987 sighting of a red light near power lines. With FBI-UAP-D009 it constitutes the newest evidence in Release 03.

“Once parking in the driveway, [redacted] noticed a ball of light through [the] windshield which was yellow and about the size of a basketball. Upon exiting the vehicle, [redacted] saw a second ball of light which was larger and about the size of a beach ball. (p. 1)”

This redacted FBI form FD-1057 (electronic communication) documents the FBI's October 2024 contact with a private witness who reported repeated observations of objects appearing as "plasma orbs" near his residence, and his efforts to collect data. The witness, referred to the FBI by a liaison contact in August 2024, provided multiple video clips and reported correlated gamma-radiation spikes and effects on electronics and GPS.

This redacted FBI form FD-1057 documents an October 2024 FBI interview of a witness in the Northeastern US orb series, conducted at an FBI facility. The witness recounts a first sighting in 2021 (a single light splitting into a triangular pattern), describes his ADSB-based effort to rule out aircraft, and relates a separate 1996 vehicle-shutdown experience while driving from Fort Bliss, TX to Fort Carson, CO.

“[redacted] was exercising in [his] house around 5am when [he] noticed some lights outside of [his] back window. Initially, [he] believed someone was in [his] yard with a flashlight bobbing around. When [he] went outside, [he] observed a singular light that eventually split into two or three lights. This formed a triangular pattern with a light in the center and remained for approximately ten minutes. (p. 2)”

This redacted FBI form FD-1057 documents a November 2024 FBI site survey of the witness's property in the Northeastern US orb series, conducted to give "prospective to previously provided recordings." Agents toured the property, a wooded area roughly 200 yards from the home where a trail camera is affixed, and surrounding terrain, enclosing 24 items including tree-line and trail-camera photos and a photo log.

Within the wooded area, there were signs to indicate the area was restricted from hunting or fishing as well as a stone wall running south to north. (p. 2)”

This redacted FBI form FD-1057 documents a November 2024 evening visit during which FBI Special Agents personally observed lights they believed to be UAP at the witness's Northeastern US property. Two agents independently and then jointly saw white and red pulsing lights moving erratically near and below the tree line; their photo attempts were mostly blurry, which they attributed to long exposure without a stabilizing tripod.

“At approximately 5:30pm, SA [redacted] and SA [redacted] observed what they believed to be a UAP in the same location of [redacted] that SA [redacted] had seen the possible UAP. The UAP appeared as a bright white light above a bright red light at the far end of the pond hovered at a approximately tree-top height, moved quickly from right to left, disappeared, then reappeared simultaneously where it had first appeared, moved quickly from right to left and disappeared again. Both Agents observed this activity. (p. 4)”

This redacted FBI form FD-1057 documents a December 2024 daytime FBI survey of the exact locations where agents had observed UAP activity in November 2024 (FBI-UAP-D007). Walking the perimeter and descending to the water's edge, agents found nothing unusual on the ground or at treetop level, noted a possible disused fire pit with no recent burns, and assessed that dense tree cover would make night drone flight risky.

This is the FBI Seattle field office's Washington State unidentified-flying-object file, a 55 page aggregation of mounted newspaper clippings, civilian telephone-complaint memos, citizen letters, and Air Force Office of Special Investigations (OSI) correspondence spanning roughly 1952 to 1960. Two features distinguish it from a routine sighting log: it opens on the July 1952 national UFO wave as reflected in Pasco-area press, and it contains a June 1954 cluster around McChord Air Force Base in which an unidentified object was tracked on radar and engaged by scrambled interceptors, which is materially heavier evidence than the single-witness norm.

“GAIL P[OLLOCK], Pasco, Wash. ... supervisor of a local ground observer group at Pasco, reported sighting two half-moon shaped objects about six times as large as a half moon. One object formed into a large fireball ... Both objects were estimated to be at about 1000 feet altitude ... They were observed for a period of ten minutes. (p. 22)”

This case file catalogs ten FBI-produced digital renderings of the Western U.S. Event, released as image files (JPG) in PURSUE Release 03 and grouped into two incident series. They are interpretive reconstructions derived from witness accounts, not photographs of the phenomena, and they carry no extractable text; their evidentiary value is illustrative and derivative, so this file describes their provenance and status rather than asserting any visual content.

A short FBI correspondence file spanning a 1967 Chicago report and later public-record inquiries. It includes an eleven-year-old's report of a flash of light and a 1974 FBI response stating that UFO sightings were not a general FBI collection responsibility. The file is administrative context, not corroboration for the reported objects.

This is a four-page intelligence-community analytic product assessing the same Cheyenne Mountain object reported by five US Army service members and documented in the FBI cluster (FBI-UAP-D001, D002, D003). The redacted analyst assesses, with explicitly stated low confidence, that the object was "Possible Backscattering of Sunlight" off snow-covered ground illuminating low-level cloud, and concludes the event "did not represent an unknown adversarial capability."

“An airborne object over Cheyenne Mountain, Colorado was observed by five U.S. Army service members at Fort Carson, Colorado at 0935 MNT on 15 February 2022, was possibly backscattering of sunlight. [redacted] has low confidence in this assessment based on uncertainty in the field of view of each witness, amount of snow cover, and exact elevation and amount of cloud cover. No anomalous data or characteristics were recorded or assessed, and the event did not represent an unknown adversarial capability. (p. 2 to p. 3)”

This file is a 216 page compilation of Project Mercury scientific debriefing material from 1962 and 1963, centered on the post flight scientific analysis of observations by John Glenn (MA-6), Scott Carpenter (MA-7), and Gordon Cooper (MA-9). Its UAP relevance is narrow and specific: it is the primary documentary record of the "luminous particles" Glenn reported on his first orbital flight (the "fireflies"), and it contains the contemporaneous NASA scientific reasoning that characterized them as particles associated with the spacecraft rather than anything extraterrestrial.

This is Part 1 of the preliminary GT-4 (Gemini IV) flight crew debriefing transcript, made from voice tape of the debriefing of James McDivitt and Edward White aboard the recovery ship USS Wasp on 9 June 1965. Part 1 covers the mission "from an operational viewpoint" (countdown, powered flight, station-keeping, EVA, reentry, recovery); its UAP relevant content is the crew's attempt to keep station with their own spent, tumbling Titan II second stage amid clouds of "fireflies," which the crew describe in operational detail as fuel and waste particles.

“About the same time I realized I was looking out at the fire flies everybody had s[e]en, but probably in a much more profuse quantity than had ever been seen before, because we were getting all this fuel that was vaporizing into many, many particles from the booster and a little bit of a contribution from the spacecraft also. This is Part 2 of the preliminary GT-4 (Gemini IV) flight crew debriefing transcript, transcribed from voice tape of the McDivitt and White debriefing aboard the USS Wasp on 9 June 1965 and concluded at the Manned Spacecraft Center on 12 June 1965. It is the Gemini IV document that contains the formal Section 10.0 "Visual Sightings," and it records two genuinely UAP adjacent observations: a wiggling "curtain" of parallel light rays seen twice at night near Australia, and the recurring "fireflies." Critically, this transcript does not contain the often repeated account of a McDivitt cylindrical object with a protruding arm or antenna; what the crew actually describe and explain here is set out below.

“Why don't I discuss t[h]at thing that I saw those two times at night. [...] They were just paral[l]el r[u]nning lines of lights radiating from the earth up toward us but at a distance away, and i[t] sort of looked like a curtain. All of these light[s] rays seemed to be sor[t] of parallel t[o] each other. They looked a lot like the Aurora Borealis, except that they were down below us and they were coming up toward us. (lines 9101 to 9128)”

This 224 page file combines Gemini IV (GT-4) mission documentation, an early flight plan and press style description of the mission's scientific experiments, and a degraded transcript of a NASA scientist discussing the visual and airglow results. It is largely experiment and flight plan data rather than UAP material, but it is significant for one reason: it scientifically characterizes the very nighttime "curtain" that McDivitt and White reported (in NASA-UAP-D017) as airglow structure and southern lights, and it restates that Glenn's "fireflies" were airglow plus dust particles. It does not present any McDivitt object as an unexplained craft.

This is Part 1 of the preliminary technical debriefing transcript of the Gemini V flight crew, Gordon Cooper and Charles "Pete" Conrad, prepared by the Spacecraft Operations Branch from voice-tape recordings of debriefings conducted August 30 through September 1, 1965 at Cape Kennedy, Florida (p. preface). The preface states that Part 1 covers the mission "generally from an operational viewpoint," while visual sightings and experiments are reserved for the Part 2 transcript (p.

This is Part 2 of the Gemini V technical debriefing of Gordon Cooper and Charles "Pete" Conrad (1965), the volume that carries the Visual Sightings and Experiments sections deferred from Part 1. The relevant content is the crew's tracking of the Rendezvous Evaluation Pod (the REP, a NASA-deployed object with a flashing light), their discussion of satellites and man-made objects in orbit, and a single object during reentry the crew judged to be their own retro pack or adapter. One brief observation, an object Cooper and Conrad saw while drifting and "never could identify," is the only item the crew left open, and they themselves suspected it was a satellite.

This is the preliminary technical debriefing transcript of the Gemini VII flight crew, Frank Borman and James Lovell, made from voice tape recordings of sessions conducted December 19 through 21, 1965 at the Crew Quarters, Cape Kennedy, Florida (p. preface). It is a 222 page operational and systems debriefing covering countdown through recovery; its only material relevant to unidentified objects is in the "Visual Sightings" section, where the crew describes tracking their own Titan booster, a flashing light, particles, the Gemini 6 rendezvous target, two satellites, and a Minuteman reentry.

This file is a NASA Manned Spacecraft Center memorandum-to-the-file (from J. R. Gill, dated 7/6/66) recording the experiments debriefing of Gemini IX (Thomas Stafford and Eugene Cernan), held in Building 4, MSC, on June 16, 1966, together with associated routing slips and experiment-status pages.

“The efforts to dislodge the shroud from the ATDA, (called by Tom Stafford as "an angry alligator,") were in vain so docking with the ATDA was scrubbed from the mission. (p. 2)”

The first of three Release 04 STS-80 image files. It shows a small bright feature near the spacecraft and Earth limb. The image establishes that NASA released the frame in this UAP tranche; without range, sequence timing, camera context, or a technical assessment, it cannot establish the object's size, distance, motion, or identity.

The second STS-80 frame released as a standalone image. It preserves a small bright feature against the Earth-and-spacecraft scene, but has no attached technical interpretation. It should be treated as an image record, not a measurement of an anomalous object's performance.

The third standalone STS-80 image in Release 04. The frame provides visual provenance only. No telemetry, frame sequence, distance estimate, or NASA analytic finding is included with the local source file, so the archive does not infer a craft, trajectory, or origin from the image alone.

This file is a 1998 NASA legislative-affairs correspondence packet, logged through the Headquarters Action Tracking System (HATS, file plan 1320.4 Aeronautics:UFO), recording how Congressional offices and the White House routed constituent UFO inquiries to NASA and how NASA replied. It is a documentary record of political and constituent engagement with the UFO topic, not a sighting case. The recurring pattern is a member of Congress or White House staff forwarding a private citizen's letter, and NASA's Office of Legislative Affairs answering with a standard deflationary "Fact Sheet" and the statement that NASA has no UFO program and has not withheld information.
